Crosstown Arts Spring '22

When I first applied to the residency in 2020, I proposed one specific project I wanted to work on. Honestly, I really just chose the one I felt sounded the smartest because I didn't even think I would get in. But anyway, pandemic-fast-forward to 2022, I had a couple of ideas for bodies of work and I wanted to finish at least one piece from each. I didn't create much at all from 2020-2021 for many reasons. I approached the residency as an opportunity to develop a "new" portfolio. I had my own studio and access to more gear than I ever did before. I wasn’t hustling out of my parents' garage on my lil Canon Rebel T5. I feel pretty fulfilled by the work I did. One of my projects made it into my first out of state exhibition and overall I completed a little more than a dozen photo projects from February to April. Five of those were part of larger series. These are a couple shots from shoots I did during the residency. Not all of them are "the shot" but I think they show how I was trying to experiment with different styles and techniques. I also think you can see a progression of me getting a handle on the new tools I had at my disposal.
